Onwards builds partnerships with colleges and universities to provide students with Ed-venture programs as alternatives to traditional volunteer options. Onwards experiences are designed around tangible learning outcomes and long-term development solutions. On Onwards trips, students are introduced to community development best practice through immersive and hands-on experiences with local organizations, learning what works and what doesn’t. Students are engaged in conversations that challenge them to think critically about what it means for an initiative to be sustainable and what their role in creating a more just world should be.
Onwards works directly with academic offices and faculty led programs to create custom trips that fit the experiential and learning goals of each institution and educator, extending the collegiate classroom for programs including international relations, international development, nonprofit management, hospitality, language immersion, and more. From one-off adventures to annual spring break alternatives, Onwards curates life-changing experiences that transform students and support the sustainable development of culturally vibrant communities in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Guatemala.
